New Report - Mormons

It is has been a few weeks for us to blog. Jim and I have been traveling. I gather all kinds of information for my courses at KSU and one of the resources I use is Pew Research. I found this article concerning Mormons interesting. I know that I am not alone in my research for information on other religions.

If you are interested in reading more about religion, this link might also interest you: http://pewforum.org/. Find something you would like to discuss. Leave us a comment!

  1. Here's some other interesting reading/viewing. These are both on the subject of "whither Christianity?/whither church?"

Phyllis Tickle's "The Great Emergence." I got this one at the library. Read it last week and was a little set back. You can get a brief preview at

There's a longer version of a Tickle lecture, but I can't find it right now.

Gretta Vosper's "With or Without God." Vosper is a Canadian leader in the Progressive Christianity movement. I just started reading it this weekend.

  2. One more interesting link on LDS. Slate is running a series on how the U.S. may ultimately end. They've involved some futurists to paint various scenarios. One of the articles discusses how America's culture might be carried forward as Rome's was by the Catholic church. Their pick: the Mormons.
